University of Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger was unknown to the four students he allegedly stabbed, according to a lawyer for one of their families.

The ambush claimed the lives of Madison Mogen and Kaylee Goncalves, 21-year-old best friends, their housemate, Xana Kernodle, 20, and her boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, also 20, who was spending the night over. Moscow Police Cpl. Brett Payne wrote in a probable cause affidavit filed on Dec. 29 that he obtained a search warrant for Kohberger's phone records to see if he had"stalked any of the victims," contacted their associates or spied on the King Road house."The records for the 8458 Phone show the 8458 Phone utilizing cellular resources that provide coverage to the area of 1122 King Road on at least twelve occasions prior to November 13, 2022," he wrote.
