It was a certain '70s album.
John Oates performs Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Lakeview Amphitheater in Syracuse. He recently revealed the album he hates the most from the duo's discography. podcast, and while he spoke to many of the successes the duo saw, he mentioned a tumultuous time in the late ‘70s where the band struggled.
He went in-depth about how it began with the band’s relationship with producer Chris Bond who worked on the band’s two previous albums — 1975′s “Daryl Hall & Johns” and “Bigger Than Both Us” — though some drama led to their working relationship to fall apart by the time “Beauty on a Back Street” was released a few years later.
The singer-songwriter said because of that, “Beauty on a Back Street” didn’t see as big a success as Hall & Oates’ two prior albums and that the incident “colors whole” memory of the time.
