The Venezuelan migrant was living in the U.S. illegally, the agency said Wednesday.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials in New York City arrested a Tren de Aragua gang member Saturday who was previously convicted of criminal weapon possession, according to a ICE 's New York City division of Enforcement and Removal Operations took Javier Jose Albornoz Marchan , who is Venezuelan and living in the U.S. illegally, into custody on Staten Island. The apprehension occurred more than two years after U.S.
On Friday, an FBI task force in New York asked ERO to help arrest Marchan due to possible threats he made to local law enforcement, the press release says. ICE explained Marchan was somewhere in New York City after the local department of corrections released him from custody. It is unconscionable this felon was running free in New York for the last three weeks when he could have immediately been apprehended upon release from local custody," Genalo said.
