might not seem like an obvious choice to be the most wishlisted game on Steam given that it is a medieval city-building RTS, a niche genre at the best of times, but after booting it up to give it a quick go before going to bed I discovered why so many people are excited to play it.
My initial plan was to jump in and play for an hour or so to figure out the basics and then call it a day. Six hours later I found myself still wide awake in the early hours frantically assigning workers to chop wood to make sure they had enough fuel to get through the winter without freezing to death. Even before writing this article, I jumped on for a couple of hours after waking up to make sure we got through to the spring.is addictive in the best way possible.
While it can feel like there is a lot to manage, in reality, all you are actually doing is deciding what buildings should be constructed and where people in your village should work, unless you decide to pick a fight and go to war. The rest is down to the AI and all you have to do is sit back and plan your next construction project. It’s surprisingly simple, and I think that is why it works so well.
Now, with the winter over my plan is to get some sheep and start making some serious money through goods and clothing production. My soil is outright terrible for farming, so that is out of the question, and sooner or later the wild animals and berries aren't going to be enough to sustain my hungry villagers, so I’ll probably need to start buying some other food sources in until I can expand to another region to set up a farming empire.
