Vikings and Vikings: Valhalla have been among the most popular historical action shows of the past decade, and surprisingly historically accurate in parts, with many Vikings characters based on real people. I was hooked from the beginning to the end. The ending of Vikings season 6 disappointed some fans who would have preferred a last dramatic vision of the characters together in Valhalla, though I disagree. I thought Vikings chose the perfect note to end on.
Many historians think Leif Erikson was the first Viking to reach North America. Vikings: Valhalla ended with its third season as planned, but before Leif reached America. I was reluctant to watch the spin-off at first, especially as, by many accounts, Vikings: Valhalla just isn't quite as good as Vikings, but, I liked it, and now need to see more. The historical difference means that Ubbe and Floki could have changed America for Leif.
A Vikings: Valhalla sequel set in America could give us more insight into the Mi'kmaq people, centering Indigenous characters and potentially righting something Vikings overlooked.
