I-70 East at Hilliard-Rome Road exit is closed after fatal crash damages overhead sign
Interstate 70 East at the Hilliard-Rome Road exit reopened Saturday around 11:45 a.m. after closing for ten hours following a fatal crash early Saturday morning, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
One person died in a crash involving a tractor-trailer in the eastbound lanes of I-70 near I-270, Columbus police said. The crash happened around 1 a.m. Saturday. Authorities have not released the name of the person who died.A piece of debris from the crash hit an overhead sign, so crews took the sign down and will replace it at a later date, she said.
WEST SIDE: I-70 EB is CLOSED at Hilliard-Rome Rd due to a crash. Drivers should avoid the area and follow OHGO for updates.
