A section of Interstate 295 northbound in Salem County is closed and traffic is being detoured after a crash Tuesday night caused serious damage to an overpass, according to the New Jersey State Police.
A tractor trailer hauling an “oversized forklift” was traveling north in the area of milepost 1.7 in Carneys Point around 5 p.m. when the top of the forklift struck the underside of the overpass carrying Hawks Bridge Road over the interstate, according to state police Sgt.
