Hurricane Delta is now a Category 3 storm, making it a major hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Wind Scale and the third of the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
The storm's wind speeds could gather an additional 34 miles per hour before reaching the Yucatan Peninsula, where it is expected to make landfall within the next 12 to 24 hours.
