The commissioner faces a fine of up to $9,800 for each of the three counts if he chooses not to contest the complaint, which is dated Dec. 4.
Jerry Walker addresses members of the community who attended the 10th district congressional candidate forum held at New Jersey Institute of Technology on July 1, 2024.Hudson County Board of Commissioners member Jerry Walker is facing nearly $30,000 in fines after the state’s Election Law Enforcement Commission said he failed to file campaign reports for the 2023 general election.
The incumbent Walker ran unopposed in the Nov. 7, 2023 election for the seat that represents the east side of Jersey City from Montgomery Street to the Bayonne border. Reached Thursday, Walker expressed surprise by the complaint and that ELEC did not have his campaign reports on file. If Walker does not file a written answer with the commission within 20 days after service of the complaint, it would constitute a default and the commission would have the authority to enter a final decision, including imposition of a monetary penalty.
