A few hours later, the bus had left Corpus Christi and the students were eating dinner at a Hard Rock Cafe in San Antonio. When they sat down at the restaurant, Emily glanced down at her hand. It was bare – she had left her rings at the beach, including one that contained her father’s cremated ashes.Emily Dickerson's father passed away when she was eight years old.
The dumpsters were usually picked up by 8:00 a.m. It was 8:30 a.m. by the time Perez even heard the voicemail. But she thought of her grandmother, who had recently died. If it was her grandmother’s ashes in that ring, she would do anything to retrieve them.”Yes,” her team said.A few minutes later, Perez, in a pair of jeans and her bright blue Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation polo shirt, hauled open the door of the four-ton dumpster and stepped inside.
Sure enough, nestled inside one of those boxes was a silver band with a white-specked, baby blue crystal dome on top. She and her staff members drove back to that dumpster. Luckily, this time the bag was at the very top of the pile.
