“We realized at that moment that the dawn of a new movement to activism, by and for people with AIDS, was born,” Berkowitz says.David Duffield, historian and coordinator of the Colorado LGBTQ History Project, says the principles set the tone for the long-term impact of HIV activism for the next 15 years.
