Amid reports that Salma Hayek will be carrying the Olympic torch at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics on Friday, July 26, here's why it isn't surprising the 'Frida' actress was chosen for the honor.

On Friday, July 26, the iconic actress will join singer Patrick Bruel and Didier Deschamps, the French soccer national team’s trainer, as they carry the torch from the Yvelines suburb to the Versailles Palace, according to, the billionaire CEO of French luxury goods conglomerate Kering, which owns high-profile designer brands like Gucci, Saint Laurent, and Alexander McQueen. Pinault also heads French investment firm Artémis, which owns the majority stake in the Creative Artists Agency.
