Like the previous three seasons, Lower Decks season 4 includes ten episodes that will air weekly on Paramount+.
Rather than focusing on the captains and senior staff of the ship as most Trek shows do, Lower Decks lets the young Ensigns of the USS Cerritos take center stage. Not only does Lower Decks include some genuinely hilarious Star Trek adventures, but it also contains Easter eggs and references to nearly every other Star Trek project. Since its premiere on Paramount+ in 2020, Lower Decks has become a beloved contribution to the Star Trek franchise.
Episode titles have been revealed for all but the final two episodes of Lower Decks season 4, and these titles hint at the return of some familiar faces. The new Lt. Boimler gets to lead a mission for the first time in Lower Decks season 4, episode 3, and it goes about as well as one would expect.
It remains to be seen how the Lower Deckers' new ranks will change the dynamic of the show. Lower Decks season 4 has also introduced a mysterious new enemy powerful enough to disable and destroy entire starships. While this mystery will likely last throughout most of the season, it provides the opportunity for the USS Cerritos to become involved in a major Starfleet mission.
