Research shows that long-term perceived psychological stress can make people appear older than they are. But this doesn’t need to be chronic, compounded stress. Even uniquely stressful moments are shown to disrupt skin: A 2023 study found that divorce can even lead to increased transepidermal water loss and skin dryness. But also: the skin should be viewed as a marker for brain diseases.
