“I truly believe that a guy needs to get reps in a preseason game. We don’t go to the ground as you see the way we practice. We try to keep guys up and be as safe as possible in practice. I think everybody needs the opportunity to go to the ground a couple of times in the game then get up and dust yourself off and just know you’re good,” he said. “So you just have to go through and play live reps in football before live action comes in September.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is set to talk later this week and will lay out the plans for the team and if they will match the Texans by playing their starters. In the past, the Steelers have given their starters at least one game of significant experience and sometimes even two games. With so much new on offense, in particular, it would not beC.J. Stroud and the Texans’ offense should give the Steelers’ defense a great look at one of the top offenses in the NFL. Meanwhile, Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, amid a quarterback competition, will have a chance to show what they can do against the Texans starters.
