After an impressive college career at Rice University, Lance Berkman was drafted by the Houston Astros. He spent 12 seasons in Houston, tallying 326 home runs and 1,090 RBI with a .296 batting average. Berkman was a five-time All-Star during that 12-year stretch, and was one of the team’s famous “Killer B’s,” along with sluggers Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio.road to legendary status didn’t start in Houston or even Texas.
Like Cooper, Warren Moon’s sports stardom started outside of H-Town. After a prolific career playing quarterback at the University of Washington, Moon signed with the Canadian Football League. After leading Edmonton to five straight Grey Cup victories, Moon signed with the Houston Oilers in 1984. Moon spent 10 electric seasons with the Oilers and won NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 1990. He still holds the Oilers’ franchise records in career passing completions, yards, and touchdowns.
