The Cougars begin the second half of the season after a 15-day break.
Clayton Tune and the rest of the Cougars return to action Saturday against Navy for the first time in 15 days.ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Coming off one of the biggest comebacks in school history and a much-needed break in the schedule, the University of Houston begins the second half of the season Saturday against Navy at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
“I think right now currently our team is in a good frame of mind,” coach Dana Holgorsen said. “We’re ready to go play.”Holgorsen said he is looking forward to the pageantry that comes with a Navy football game, something that was missing the last time the Cougars paid a visit in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to the game, the Brigade of Midshipmen enter the stadium and line up on the field for the national anthem, which is followed by a flyover of four F-18s.
“I can’t help but think it’s going to help a little bit,” Holgorsen said. “He’ll probably be on the sideline picking signals left and right, giving our coaches good information to be able to help us hopefully beat Navy.”Speaking of the triple-option, while many of the same principles remain, Navy has shown the ability to pass with versatile quarterback Tai Lavatai.
