Homelessness services are facing major challenges
Homeless families spending more than three months in bed and breakfast accommodation need more support from Glasgow City Council and the local health board according to a councillor.
The current cost of B&B use for 2022/23 is projected at £5.3 million and is expected to rise to £10.5 million in 2023/24. With £8.5 million of Covid-19 funding from the Scottish Government being removed, the financial pressure on the homelessness services in Glasgow will be “exacerbated” according to the report.
During the meeting, councillor Lana Reid-McConnell said: “We know most of them don’t have a fridge or a microwave in their rooms.
