Hillary Clinton in an op-ed published Wednesday defended her 2016 comment about supporters of former President Donald Trump.

Just look at everything that has happened in the years since, from Charlottesville to Jan. 6," she wrote. “The masks have come off, and if anything, ‘deplorable’ is too kind a word for the hate and violent extremism we’ve seen from some Trump supporters.” Clinton wrote in the op-ed that part of her would say it is “objectively true” that some of Trump’s supporters, the ones she grouped into the “basket of deplorables,” are “irredeemable,” as she called them at the campaign event.
