Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani has made history by becoming the first player in MLB history to record 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a season. Ohtani accomplished the feat in style by clocking his 49th, 50th and 51st home runs and 50th and 51st stolen bases of the year during LA’s 20-4 win over the Miami Marlins.

Two weeks ago, Enterprise’s Emma McCrea and Wicksburg’s Landon Davenport won the Wildcat Classic cross country races in Enterprise.

Davenport, a Wicksburg junior, clocked a time of 17:40.30, winning by 10 seconds over Providence Christian’s Jacob Mixson . Enterprise won both the girls and boys varsity team titles. The Wildcats girls had 31 points, well ahead of runner-up and host Providence Christian and third place Wicksburg . Houston Academy and Poplar Springs rounded out the girls standings.

The times for both McCrea and Davenport were slightly off their pace from the Wildcat Classic, which was run under overcast, damp conditions. Both runners said between a challenging course and the hot sun, it created for a tougher task Saturday. “The toughest one was in Enterprise last year, but this one is probably second, if not next to it,” Davenport said.

The next eight runners in sixth through 13th place were all from Enterprise – Ammarie Jenkins , Kamryn Wile , Hannah Nichols , Abigail Padgett , Caroline Granger , Emily De Hoyos , Talia De Hoyos and Anabelle De Hoyos . The top runners for other schools were Alexander Vasquez for Dothan , Titus Bell for Headland , David Baber for Poplar Springs , Zane Jones for Northside Methodist and Andy Hager for Ashford .
