Texans have shown full excitement for the new Dr Pepper Float ice cream from Blue Bell that hit shelves Thursday. But would they be disappointed? We had to try the ice cream for ourselves.
Here's the thing, I am a native Texan who grew up drinking Dr Pepper and eating Blue Bell ice cream. Coconut ice cream is my go to. But floats and mixing soda and ice cream aren't my thing. I like to think this makes me the perfect critic for this.
Therefore, when I tasted the off-looking white and brown swirled magic of Dr Pepper Float, I was astonished. If coconut is a 10, I give Dr Pepper Float a 9/10. If you're thinking too sweet — wrong. If you're thinking gross — wrong. If you're thinking unbalanced — wrong. Prepared to be surprised at how balanced Dr. Pepper sorbet and vanilla can be. I asked some of my colleagues here in the office to try it and I watched each one of their faces go from skeptical to joy.
