Here's how much rain fell in 43 San Diego County communities before dawn Wednesday
As the rainfall figures below show, San Diego County received heavy precipitation overnight from a Pacific storm that was enhanced by moisture from the sub-tropics.
The National Weather Service said that an additional 0.50 inches to 0.70 inches could fall by Wednesday night. A flash flood warning is in effect through 9:30 a.m. for the southwestern and and southeastern sections of the county.Advertisement A traffic alert was issued shortly after 5:45 a.m. because of flooding on state Route 78 near Carlsbad. California Highway Patrol officers closed a section of the freeway and officers diverted all westbound and eastbound vehicles off the freeway at El Camino Real.Around 4:15 a.m., a large eucalyptus tree fell onto lanes of state Route 163 in the Hillcrest area, blocking both traffic lanes. A traffic alert was in place until crews were able to clear the debris off the freeway.
