The excessive heat in the Southern Plains will become more widespread to end June.
Numerous daily record highs may be broken mid to late week from Texas and Oklahoma into Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. Lows in the 70s and 80s will be prevalent across the southern tier of the United States. Daily record warm low temperature records may also be broken over the next week.A dome of high pressure aloft that's persisted much of this month over Mexico has bulged northward into the Southern Plains, spreading its extreme heat.
