Heat Considering Waive-And-Stretch On Kyle Lowry If No Trade Materializes - RealGM Wiretap

The Miami Heat are considering using the waive-and-stretch provision on Kyle Lowry if they are unable to trade him, sources tell Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Lowry is due $29.7 million next season in the final year of his three-year, $85 million deal signed with the Heat in 2021. If the Heat use the provision on Lowry, he would count against their cap at $9.9 million each of the next three seasons. Miami’s 2023-24 salary cap commitments would shrink from $178.5 million to $158.5 million, below the $165 million tax line and the $182.5 million second apron. The Heat have hoped to use Lowry in a trade for Damian Lillard.
