A Harrisburg woman died after she was ejected during a Sunday crash on Route 283 in Lancaster County, police said.
The 33-year-old woman was the passenger in a 2025 BMW SUV that rear-ended a 53-foot tractor-trailer around 11:30 p.m. on Route 283 west in East Hempfield Township, according to police. The crash was reported just west of Route 741. Police said the BMW’s passenger side was torn open, and the 33-year-old woman was thrown onto the opposite side of Route 283. She was pronounced dead at the scene.Both sides of Route 283 were shut down for about six hours Sunday into Monday, police said.
