The official word from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education provided more good news to a school that has seen plenty this year.

All of those accomplishments set the stage for 2022, which has brought a number of highlights for the private STEM-focused university:

UPMC and Harrisburg University in February announced the opening of the UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing at UPMC Harrisburg. The new school will help bring more critically important nurses to the region and give area residents the opportunity to pursue a career in nursing through an affordable, accelerated program.

Said Ryan Riley, vice president for advancement, Harrisburg University: “The validation of our academic standards is one of the many reasons our donors and strategic partners choose to work with us. The rigorous evaluation of Middle States ensures donors that their philanthropic investment is well invested in our students.”

Middle States Commission on Higher Education Accreditation is a voluntary process that colleges, universities, and academic programs undertake in order to demonstrate their quality. The accreditation process helps universities improve their performance and streamlines requirements from one college to the next. This eases the transfer process for students, and ensures schools are meeting nationally accepted standards for quality and professionalism.
