Shares of Harley-Davidson Inc. HOG, -1.17% was indicated down about 0.2% in premarket trading Tuesday, in the wake of the motorcycle maker’s recall of more than 65,000 motorcycles to fix rear shock absorbers. “A fastener securing the rear shock absorber may break and allow the rear shock absorber adjuster to damage the rear tire, causing a loss of tire pressure,” according to a notice from the U.S.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. “A loss of tire pressure can lead to a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.” The recall is for certain 2018 to 2019 FLDE, 2018-2021 FLHC, 2018 to 2023 FLHCS, 2018 and 2023 FLHCS ANV, 2020 to 2023 FXLRS, 2022 to 2023 FXLRST and 2022 FXRST Softail motorcycles. The stock has dropped 17.8% year to date through Friday, while the S&P 500 SPX, -0.18% has climbed 17.6%.
