Halsey opened up about growing up in a 'lower class family' and now living in 'the one percent,' and how that has shaped her views
sent a reminder to her fans to vote in this year's election and shared a virtual segment with Bernie Sanders that addressed greed among the wealthiest people the United States.
The singer shared the first episode of her conversation with Sanders via Twitter on Sunday . The video series is billed as an "intimate conversation to discuss the future of America, some of the most important issues facing our nation, and why they'll be voting for Joe Biden in November." During their talk, Halsey first brought up Trump and Biden's presidential debate from the prior week, which she described as "arguably one of the most frustrating pieces of television I've ever had the misfortune of witnessing." Sanders agreed.Halsey then opened up about growing up in a"lower class family" and now living in"the one percent," and how that has shaped her views.
"My parents dropped out of college to have me, my father is a person of color, my mother is white, and we grew up in really, really underprivileged situations," she explained."My parents had access to medical assistance. I grew up in those scenarios. And now, as an adult, at 26 years old, I'm part of the one percent.""Having that sort of shift in perspective, given the ability to kind of see things from both sides, there's one thing that I know for a fact.
