Thousands of electronic files stolen by cyber criminals from the city of Columbus last month, have now been released publicly onto the dark web.International

International hacker group Rhysida , which claims to have stolen 6.5 TB of city government data, threatened to release the information publicly if a ransom of 30 BT,Ohio State University Professor Carter Yagemann told ABC 6 that data began being released shortly after a 5:30 a.m. deadline was not met.

Mayor Andrew Ginther said the city was able to stop more data from being stolen after it disconnected from the internet. "While a foreign cyber threat actor claims to have released city data, it has not been validated that the data is usable or valuable," Ginther said.Deputy Chief of Staff
