Now, the show's cast is continuing to grow with the addition of an Academy Award-winning actor. According to Deadline, the Young Sherlock series has cast Colin Firth as a new character named Sir Bucephalus Hodge. Details as to who this character is are unclear.
At the time of his casting, it's unclear what role Firth's character will play in the Young Sherlock TV show. Sir Bucephalus Hodge never appears nor is mentioned in Doyle's stories or Lane's books. Considering his prefix, it appears the character, like the Sherlock Holmes author himself, was knighted by the British monarchy. Additionally, Bucephalus was the name of Alexander the Great's horse, which could symbolize the character's strength or legendary status.

However, Princess Shou'an is a real historical figure from the Qing dynasty.
