SAN LEANDRO — A person was injured Thursday when gunfire broke out on a Bay Area freeway close to where a shooting happened last month, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP officers responded about 4:10 p.m. after reports of shots fired on Interstate 580 in the eastbound direction near the 150th Avenue exit, the agency said in a statement. A person with a gunshot wound showed up at Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley minutes after the initial reports, according to the CHP. The officers went to the hospital and spoke with the victim, who was expected to recover.
Police did not identify a vehicle associated with the shooting. They said the shooting did not cause any crashes or a traffic backup. The CHP said they also investigated a non-injury shooting that was captured on a driver’s dashcam last month near the same exit on I-580.
