After a successful run in theaters, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. is on its way to Disney+ as Marvel Studios has finally announced its arrival date.
After premiering in theaters on May 5, Marvel Studios has finally given Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 a Disney+ streaming release date. 2023 marked the end of an era for one of Marvel Studios' most beloved franchises as James Gunn completed his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. While the characters may live on, Gunn has finished his time with Marvel Studios as he is now busy running DC Studios with Peter Safran.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which became Phase 5's biggest success thus far, is coming out on Blu-ray and DVD starting on August 1. However, Marvel Studios will bring Gunn's final Marvel Cinematic Universe film to Disney+ globally one day later on August 2. The announcement was accompanied by a brief TV spot recapping several memorable moments from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and a few from the team's previous adventures.

While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was a critical and financial success, Marvel Studios has not announced a sequel at this point. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. left the door open for another filmmaker to pick up where Gunn left off, though a potential sequel would likely be the start of something new and not Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4.
The bigger mystery is with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's "The Legendary Star-Lord will return" tease. At this point, it wouldn't be shocking if Marvel Studios prioritizes a solo project with Chris Pratt's Star-Lord before a new Guardians of the Galaxy team returns in full. Although knowing Marvel Studios, the team will likely be back for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and/or Avengers: Secret Wars to wrap up The Multiverse Saga.
However, even if a sequel isn't the immediate plan, there are numerous ways for Marvel Studios to use the team. Guardians members could pop up in any MCU cosmic adventure, like The Marvels or a Nova project. For now, fans will be able to relieve Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. in August and their entire trilogy while waiting patiently for their next MCU story.
