Star Wars' direction with The Mandalorian's story and Lucasfilm's plans for the future suggest Grogu will appear in Rey's New Jedi Order movie.

Daisy Ridley's Rey Skywalker will rebuild the Jedi Order in Star Wars: New Jedi Order, and given the timeline and events of Star Wars' current shows, it seems unavoidable for Grogu to appear in the movie as one of her students. The Mandalorian co-creator Dave Filoni revealed during the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase at Star Wars Celebration 2023 that the series will soon come to an end, with a movie capping off Din Djarin's story.

Grogu In Rey's Star Wars Movie Gives Him A Happy Ending While there's no way to know for sure what may transpire in The Mandalorian movie until its release, the idea that Star Wars may cut Grogu's story short before its end is almost unthinkable to most. With Yoda himself as an example to draw from, it's certain that Grogu's story is set to be a long one as he's still only lived a fraction of Yoda's 900 years.

Additionally, Grogu himself serving as the bridge between Jedi and Mandalorian cultures opens the door to even more potential Mandalorian Jedi within this new order. As the state of Mandalorian livelihood in Rey's era is never directly touched upon throughout the sequel trilogy, and going by the assumption that the Children of the Watch are successful in retaking their home world, it's highly possible that viewers may see the rise of new Force users from Mandalore.

Regardless of what his involvement could do for the movie itself, Grogu is undoubtedly one of Disney's most valuable pieces on their board at this point in time. Between merchandising, viewer appeal, and sheer recognizability, Grogu represents a whole new generation of fans brought into the Star Wars fandom through The Mandalorian.
