Grocery stores nationwide are implementing purchase limits on fresh eggs due to the ongoing impact of avian flu on egg-laying flocks. Retailers like Trader Joe's, Sprouts, and Costco have restricted egg purchases to one dozen per customer per day, four dozen per visit, and a maximum of five online orders, respectively. The H5N1 virus has led to the culling of over 150 million poultry birds, resulting in soaring egg prices and limited supply. Shoppers have reported empty shelves and long lines at stores as demand outstrips availability.
