A federal court has supported his rights to place floating barriers on the Mexican border

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has welcomed a federal appeal court's ruling in favor of the floating barriers he has placed along the Mexican border.Reacting to Tuesday's decision, Abbott, wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that the floating barriers would remain in place.'Biden tried to remove them. I fought to keep them in the water. And that is exactly where they will stay,' he wrote.Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton, also welcomed the ruling.

The Biden administration had argued that the barrier was a violation of the Rivers and Harbors Act , through which the federal government maintains navigable waterways. In so doing, the judges disagreed with a minority of judges who wrote that the injunction should remain in place.'Curiously, that dissent resists our approach by arguing that Congress may exercise control over nonnavigable stretches of the river to promote commerce on the navigable portions,' wrote Willett.
