After a divorce, the twins head to New York to spend the summer with their father, Anthony, played by David Schwimmer . When staying out of the basement is a standing rule, the twins meet a group of local teenagers who tell them about a missing uncle from 30 years ago. Intrigued, Devin and Cece start investigating, leading them to face a mysterious and powerful evil force.
