JON JOHNSON In no surprise, Goose Crowder has been named the starting quarterback by new Troy coach Gerad Parker.
The junior from Gardendale who transferred to Troy from West Virginia before last season was the back-up to starter Gunnar Watson a year ago. Crowder received most of the reps with the starters during the spring and continued to do so once preseason camp began on July 31. A year ago, Crowder saw limited time at quarterback in making five appearances behind the veteran Watson, who has since graduated. Against Kansas State, Crowder completed 5-of-6 passes for 49 yards and against ULM completed 4-of-7 passes for 45 yards and a touchdown.
