The author recounts their experience switching from Google Assistant to Amazon Alexa for their smart home needs, highlighting the improved reliability and user experience offered by Alexa.

This time last year, I was about to move into a new house, and I made the decision to say goodbye to Google Assistant and hello to Amazon Alexa for all my smart home duties. When I tried to add devices and do more with Assistant, the Home app on my phone never made things very easy, and I always felt like I was missing out on functionality. As I packed for my house move, I found an old Amazon Echo Show 5 (a first-generation model) I’d never used, and made the immediate decision it would be the center of my new home’s smart hom
