A good Samaritan stepped up to help a groups of nuns in Texas who were struggling to endure the summer because their convent is without air conditioning.
A benefactor made a large donation to a convent of 12 nuns, who live adjacent to Father Yermo Schools, a set of Catholic schools, in El Paso . The convent is independent of the El Paso Diocese and raises funds on its own.The sisters previously toldthey need $40,000 to replace their aging air conditioners with refrigerated units. Their current units broke weeks ago, after over a decade in service.
It’s unbearable. We try our best -- open windows," Sister Maria Angelica Omaña told KFOX. "Even though we have ceiling fans, that’s not enough.""Yes, I’m worried about them," Madre Aurea said of the older sisters. "I feel they’re going to dehydrate, especially at night when it’s so hot. Even with the windows open.""We know people in the community are going through hardships just like us," Madre Aurea said.
