A private jet carrying the Gonzaga University men's basketball team narrowly avoided a collision with a Delta aircraft on a LAX runway. The FAA is investigating the incident.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating a near-collision between a private jet carrying the Gonzaga University men’s basketball team and another aircraft on Friday at Los Angeles International Airport ( LAX ). A Key Lime Air plane nearly hit a Delta aircraft taking off around 4:30 p.m. Air traffic controllers instructed Key Lime Air Flight 563 to hold short of a runway as a Delta aircraft was taking off.
The Embraer E135 jet, carrying the Gonzaga team, proceeded to cross the hold bars. Air traffic controllers ordered the pilots to stop, and the jet stopped just short of the runway edge. No one was injured. Gonzaga was in Los Angeles for its game against UCLA on Saturday. The university confirmed the incident and stated that their team members were unaware of the situation during the flight. Key Lime Air did not immediately respond to comment, while Delta said its flight operated normally and they are cooperating with the FAA investigation
