A 12-year-old girl who died in a traffic crash in Aurora last week has been identified, and the family of four injured in the incident is recovering.
The two-vehicle crash happened on Oct. 29 at South Buckley Road and East Kent Drive, accoding to Aurora police., police said.
The girl has been identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office as Sahni Pyles. Sahni, who died of blunt force trauma to her head and torso, was a seventh grader at Denver Discovery School,The 15-year-old driver of a stolen Dodge Journey was arrested on an outstanding warrant, police said. Charges related to the crash are pending. It’s believed the teen driver, who was traveling with seven juveniles, was impaired and that contributed to the crash.
The Dodge was being driven at a high rate of speed when it hit the passenger side of a Toyota Tacoma that was turning left onto East Kent from southbound South Buckley. A family of four — Meghan and Will Harris and their two young daughters — were injured in the crash. The seven survivors in the Dodge were taken to a hospital “with various injuries, some life-threatening,” police said.with medical expenses and bills as they recover from injuries.
“The injuries from the accident are devastating,” the GFM page said. Both children have been released from the hospital. Meghan and Will Harris both suffered life-threatening injuries and have undergone surgery. “Thankfully our family has survived this tragedy but their journey back to life as it was has just begun,” the GFM page said. “Both Meghan and Will will miss months of work as they get back on their feet and heal.”
