Daniel Jones might not be the Giants' starting QB for long.
But NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah said that role is not set in stone: the Giants will allow Lock to compete for the starting job — and there’s a good chance he could become QB1., who was taken at No. 3 by the New England Patriots. They did not dip lower into the quarterback pool at No. 6 because of how much they value Drew Lock.
The reports swirling around the Giants related to quarterbacks in the draft clearly point to a franchise that is ready to move on from Jones, who played in six games last season and needed surgery on a torn ACL on Thanksgiving. In those games, Jones threw for 909 yards with two touchdowns and six interceptions, while getting sacked 30 times. Jones last offseason signed a four-year, $160 million deal that is really a two-year, $82 million deal.
