Hopkins enters the job leading a borough that’s grappling with serious staffing shortages and long-term fiscal concerns, according to theThat report says numerous departments are dealing with recruitment and retention woes, with the Human Resources section of the report spotlighting the community planning, transportation and finance departments.
The report also notes fiscal concerns of the Ward administration, saying that “udgeting over the next several years will be difficult: balancing the needs for services, capital projects, and local education funding with reality of the tax cap.” “Hopefully we can find some incentives in the next three years to increase that construction level to increase sustainably and organically that revenue cap,” Hopkins said. “But that’s not going to be right now.”
