Set to be revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the GV60 Magma will share much with the Ioniq 5 N
A £100,000 performance-focussed Genesis GV60 will go into production this year as the first car from the Korean brand’s Magma moniker, touting Hyundai Ioniq 5 N performance but tuned for the “gentleman driver”. Tipped to be revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the GV60 Magma is expected to adopt much of its Hyundai sibling’s underpinnings such as its 89.0kWh battery and 641bhp dual-motor set-up.
“We can create motion cues, like the gears and noise, as a sense of communication; it is more than just a fun gimmick.” However, despite the similarities, Johnson stressed Magma should not be compared to Hyundai’s N brand, instead suggesting that it’s better matched to BMW’s relationship with Alpina: “It’s about mixing Korean premium with European sportiness”. Chief designer Luc Donckerwolke agreed, with the designs of the cars tweaked for function over form.
