If the deal is completed, millions of tons of liquified natural gas from Sempra project on the Texas Gulf Coast would go to Saudi Aramco
A rendering of the Port Arthur LNG project that Sempra Infrastructure, a subsidiary of San Diego energy company Sempra, is building on the Gulf Coast of Texas. that would see the Saudi Arabian national oil company make purchases and invest in a proposed expansion of a liquefied natural gas facility on the Gulf Coast of Texas.
“This agreement is a major step in Aramco’s strategy to become a leading global LNG player,” Aramco Upstream President Nasir K. Al-Naimi said in a statement.said the deal provides an opportunity to expand “the global reach of the Port Arthur LNG facility” and help “facilitate the broad distribution of U.S. natural gas across global energy markets.
In the LNG process, export facilities take natural gas via pipelines and cool it to minus 260 degrees Fahrenheit. The liquefied gas is then poured into specially made cargo tanks on double-hulled ships that sail to international destinations.
