Indiana State Police said a Gary police officer was involved in a shooting on Chase Street Tuesday evening.
Gary police said officers were called to a home in that block of a domestic situation involving family members. Police said a man in his 40s was armed with a rifle and barricaded himself inside the home.
The armed man came out of the house and got into a car, and was confronted by SWAT officers. The man was shot and killed, Gary police said.The officer involved in the shooting will be put on administrative leave during the investigation, Gary police said. The Indiana State Police are handling the investigation into the shooting.
