Seguin and No. 1 Smithson Valley are the only undefeated teams in District 12-5A-I play. A Seguin victory would move the Matadors closer to an end-of-regular-season showdown with Smithson Valley for the district title.7:30 p.m. Friday at Matador Stadium in Seguin.The Cougars have won twice in a row since Smithson Valley beat them 35-0, defeating Buda Hays 44-41 and Kyle Lehman 49-14.
Junior quarterback Deuce Adams has passed for 2,020 yards and 22 touchdowns. Senior receiver Xayvion Noland has 51 catches for 459 yards and 13 scores.The Matadors remained perfect in district play thanks to Devin Matthews’ 71-yard touchdown run as time expired in a 41-34 victory over Buda Hays. Matthews also caught nine passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns and has 34 receptions for 649 yards and nine scores this season.After Friday, the Matadors finish the regular season against Wagner and Smithson Valley.: The Matadors’ lone victory in the series came last season on a fourth-quarter Michael Martinez TD run that gave Seguin a 28-21 win.
