For the second straight Friday, the Astros' game won't be on conventional TV platforms....

Friday's Astros-Phillies game will be streamed exclusively on Apple TV+ as part of its weekly package of MLB games. For the second consecutive week, Friday’s Astros game won’t be available via the conventional television platform.

Friday night’s opener of the World Series rematch against the Phillies is an Apple TV+ exclusive, meaning a subscription to that streaming service is required to watch. Last Friday’s win over the Braves in Atlanta also was an Apple TV+ streaming exclusive. Astros fans hoping to watch every game this season will need to have access to AT&T SportsNet Southwest via a cable/satellite/streaming subscription for the bulk of the games as well as at least two other streaming services that have weekly MLB packages. Why isn’t Friday’s game on TV?

This is the second season with select MLB Friday night games on Apple TV+, which has exclusive rights to stream those games, meaning they’re not carried on regional cable networks. The games are also blacked out on the MLB.TV streaming service.Apple TV+ does offer a free seven-day trial, so fans could sign up for that to watch Friday’s game. But if they used a free trial to watch last Friday’s game in Atlanta, they would need to sign up for a paid subscription for the Phillies game.
