A polar plunge will be set up at Gateway Plaza this year to benefit Special Olympics Ohio. This one is from 2019 at Edgewater Park.CLEVELAND, Ohio – “Freezin’ for a Reason,” the 2023 polar plunge for Special Olympics Ohio, will be at Gateway Plaza on Saturday, Feb. 25.
The event, which is 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will be held outside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, where an 18-foot by 9-foot by 52-foot pool will be set up for plungers to take an icy dip. Participants are encouraged to show their enthusiasm by wearing crazy costumes. Cleveland Cavaliers in-arena host Ahmaad Crump will emcee. Festivities include music provided by a DJ, a 50-50 raffle and costume contest. The Cleveland Monsters will have interactive games, and the Cavs Team Shop kiosk inside the arena at Portal 16 will be open with sales proceeds going to Special Olympics Ohio. Free hot chocolate and coffee will be offered.
Organizers say Cleveland’s polar plunge is one of seven that have been scheduled across Ohio from January through March.
