Freeman and Urias are up for Players’ Choice Awards, while Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, Justin Turner, Will Smith and Chris Taylor join Freeman as Silver Slugger finalists.
Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman and pitcher Julio Urias were named finalists for MLB Players’ Choice Awards on Thursday, and Freeman was one of six Dodgers who were named finalists for Silver Slugger Awards.
In his first season with the Dodgers, the 33-year-old Freeman slashed .325/.407/.511 with 47 doubles and 21 home runs among his MLB-high 199 hits. He had 100 RBIs and his on-base percentage and runs scored led the NL. Major league players vote for the Players’ Choice Awards. The winners will be announced on Nov. 3 on ESPN.
The Silver Sluggers, selected by a vote of managers and coaches, recognize the best offensive player at each position in each league, with this year’s inclusion featuring a utility player as well. The winners will be announced on Nov. 10 on MLB Network.
